Initiating and Testing SMB Access

To test your SMB password from Microsoft Windows, click Start, Run and enter \\mathprint.mcmaster.ca\username. In OS X, click Command-K in the Finder and enter smb://mathprint.mcmaster.ca. In linux, press Alt-F2 and enter smb://mathprint.mcmaster.ca.

If your account was created before September of 2004, you may not have SMB access and will need to initialize your SMB password before you can set up any queues. To set your SMB password, simply login via ssh to ms and enter the command passwd; you may simply re-enter your current password as your new password. Note that the passwd command will set both your SMB password and your system (login) password.
