Nightly RHPCS-managed backups

Under normal operating conditions, RHPCS-managed systems perform backups on a nightly basis.

We are no longer able to provide self-serve access to the backups. If you need to restore something (such as a file) from backup, please email rhpcs@mcmaster.ca with the following information:

  • Name and path to the file in question (for example, "/Users/ye/Documents/VeryImportantThesis.docx")
  • When the last-known good version was for the file in question
  • Where you would like the restored file to go (for example, "/Users/ye/Restored/VeryImportantThesis.docx")

RHPCS typically retains nightly backups for 28 days. If the last-known good version for the file in question is older than 28 days, it may no longer exist in our backup history.
