These are instructions for using LimeSurvey with SONA, the online participant management software.

Steps:

1. You'll need to create a separate survey on LimeSurvey that asks participants to input their name and email address (you can call this "SONA Names Database" or something similar). Once this is done, activate the survey and copy the URL. Now, go to the other survey(s) from which you want to collect data. Go to "Settings" and then "Text Elements." Paste the URL you just copied into the "End URL" box. Under "URL Description," type: "Please click here to receive your SONA credits. You MUST do so in order to be awarded your credits."

Note: It's important to create a separate survey as noted above because you shouldn't have participants' survey responses linked to their names and emails unless you have specified in your ethics application that this will be the case.

2. Once you've done this, copy the URL for the main survey that you want participants to complete. Log into SONA and select "Create a new study" followed by "Online external study." Fill in the basic study information the way that you typically would for other SONA studies. Paste the URL you just copied into the box that says "Study URL."

3. Periodically, you'll need to access the SONA Names Database survey you created in LimeSurvey to see which participants have completed the survey. Once you see their name and email, you can assign their credits on SONA.
