wireless - clj macOS

The instructions below are for devices running a recent version of macOS, and connected to Mac-Wifi.

It is a good idea to first download and install the latest HP Universal Printer Driver before adding the printer. 

Summary

Add smb://physprt.mcmaster.ca/clj as a network printer of type Windows printer via spoolss, and authenticate using PHYSICS\username and your physserv password.

Procedure

1. Go to System Preferences and click on Printers & Scanners.
2. Click on the + button near the bottom-left. This opens the Add window.
   
   
   
3. You should have the Advanced tab/button at the top of this window. Click on this icon, wait for the searching of printers to expire, and enter in the information as shown.
   
   
   
   • If you do not see the Advanced icon, you'll want to add it by right-clicking on some space beside one of the icons you do see, and then clicking Customize Toolbar... 
     
     
     
   • Drag the Advanced icon next to the other icons on the toolbar. Click Done when done.
     
     
     
4. After you clicked on Select Software..., choose HP Laserjet Color LaserJet 4700. Click OK and then Add.
   
   
5. In the next window that appears, make sure to tick Duplex Printing Unit as well as Tray 3. You'll also want to select the option as shown below for Collation in Printer. You can choose whether to print single or double-sided documents in your application.
   

We can now test to send job to the printer queue and print a page. Since the printer server needs to know a valid user, a username and password dialog will appear. Type in your username and password for your account on physserv as shown below (make sure to specify the PHYSICS domain), tick "Remember this password in my keychains" and then click "OK".
