Setup printer queues while using common wireless access points

This section only applies to setup printers for departmental printers (laser326, hpe241, clj and derived double side or transparency queues) while your computer is connected to the network through wireless access points, such as MacWiFi.

Generally, we send printing job to the printer server physprt and the server counts the number of pages to print and pass the job to the real printer. In the wired case, we can track down user by their physserv username or by the "hardware" address of their laptop. When connected through a wireless router, all we can find is the hardware address of the router, or the arbitrary usernames everyone setup themselves. So we need to "authenticate" user. We do this by asking you to send your printing job via "windows shared printer" method. You will need an account on the physics system in order to be able to use this method. If you do not have an account, send a mail to sysadmin@physics.mcmaster.ca to apply one.
