Information on departmental printers

This section lists information and installation instructions to use departmental printers. They are laser326 in ABB326, hpe241 and the colour laser printers in ABB241. Although other printers are also listed, they are only meant for people in particluar rooms. The instructions here are for computers connected directly on to physics subnet via network cable. All print jobs should send to printer server physprt either through protocol lpd or ipp, and only postscript driver should be used.

PLEASE NOTE: Setting up printers depends on how your system (laptop) is connected to the network!

  If you connect using both WiFi and a hard-wired connection, please do the following:

            Set up every printer that you want, using two devices

 hpe241-wired

 hpe241-wifi

If your system is connected using a hard-wired connection, use the following:

• hpe241
• lm253 for astro group
• colour laser printer (clj clj2s clj_t)
• laser326 (laser printer in ABB326)
• Sharp photocopier
• br335 for Paul Higgs's group

For printing with wireless connecton The instructions are slightly different, due to the needs to authenticate user. Jobs need to send to the printer server via smb protocol, a windows way to access shared printer.
